Here is a selection of reviews for beers brewed by the Scottish Courage brewery

This now rates as one of the top 10 worst beers in Britain. If the head brewer at courage had brewed this for his directors all thoes years ago he would have been sacked. Put simply any pub selling this dreadful beer should be avoided. Not just bland but nasty, the only reason I score it 2 is because it is a supposed real ale!

Cask conditioned at the Prince of Wales, Wimbledon, London, Christmas 2004. This winter seasonal is very different from the ordinary Directors bitter. Mahogany brown colour, low head. Aroma has malts, dark fruits, sherry and oak. Sweetish flavour, notes of sherry, dried fruits and Christmas cake. Reminds me of a Scottish \"heavy\" with Christmas elements added. Low bitterness. At 5.5% ABV, alcohol is evident but not overwhelmingly so. Interesting.

Simply dreadful. Over 1 million pints of,this, astringent, nasty, gaseous, harsh, tart, putrid, malodourous, offensive, mephitic shit are sold each day in the UK. With over £20 million pounds spent on advertising each year it only goes to show how gullible the general public are. I know it's a close run thing between Tetley's cask and this but I would have to be tourtured before I drank this. The bosses at Scottish Courage should be ashamed of themselves! There is more to life than making money and if it were in my power I would close this brewery tommorow. Nobody in ther right mind should touch this, I have tasted better ditch water.

Rerate, cask at the Station Hotel, Ipswich: Aroma of English malt vinegar, hints of dishwasher liquid. Smooth flavour without too much character. Low on hops.
Original rating, 7: (Draught). I remember this one as a decent standard bitter, nothing remarkable.
