First sampled this standard bitter from B&T in Babbity Bowser, Glasgow in August 1993. Pale copper red in colour with a thin white head. Slight hoppy aroma with thin mouthfeel. Pale malt complex giving a citric lemon and grapefruit flavour with a slight hop resin aftertaste.

Sampled this strong ale in Babbity Bowser, Glasgow in January 1993. Unusual for Babbity Bowser to have a strong ale on tap, as most of their real ales at the bar are normally under 4.5%! Copper red in colour with thin creamy white head. Slight malt in the aroma with a disappointing thin mouthfeel. Pale malt complexes giving a fiery malt base with raisin fruit laced with liquorice. Dry metallic tang of hop resin kicks in for the predominately dry aftertaste.

Loads of taste and flavour for a 3.6 beer. Light coloured with a fresh fruity taste and a good bitterness. Drying finish. Excellant.

Predictably pitch black in colour. Sharp, tinny taste from the off. Heavy and bitter for a mild. The stringent sharpness remains on the roof of your mouth all the way through the taste.

First tasted this bitter in Gabriels, Paisley in May 2002. Pale straw in colour with a thin foam white head and good lacing. Slight lemon note on nose and thin mouthfeel. Pale malt base leads to a citric zest in a refreshing fruity flavour. Balanced malt & hop finish.
