This must be one of Marstons best ales. It's strength is the key here, it gives the beer body and flavour and makes it quite enjoyable.

Sampled this pale bitter in the Last Post, Paisley (JDW) in April 2008. Clear pale amber in colour with a thin white head. Distinct sulphurous aroma which resembled Bass interestingly enough. Thin mouthfeel but good lacing. Slight pale malt base gives a thin underdeveloped flavour of digestive malt tempered with slight grassy notes. Sulphur again noted in the taste with an eggy note on the back of the tongue. Dry almost nutty quality to the rather thin, tired aftertaste. Not the best from Marston's portfolio.

A dark brown ale with an interesting, sharp, peppery, bitter taste. Dry, spicey flavours develop at the end.

A pretty thin brew, dark brown in colour but not many redeeming features

A very strong ale which is flavoursome due to it's strength. It was tasty but difficult to drink, not smooth enough for my liking.
