First sampled this bitter at the Renfrew Beer Festival in October 1991. Pale copper in colour with a thin white head and thin mouthfeel. Bland aroma with just a little hop resin evident. Weak pale malt base leading to an insipid and diluted sweet malt flavour. This soon fades away and hop resin gives a slight dry hop bite in the fading aftertaste. Light and refreshing for those that don't know any better.

[From the Warwick Arms, Reading] I had the "IPA Chilled" version - only chose this as there were shockingly no other ales available, and only the standard mass-market lagers.

Pours with a thick creamy lasting nitrokeg head despite negligible carbonation. Utterly flavourless while chilled; apart from a faint bitterness this tasted not just watery, but actually like water! Allowed to warm to see if this bought out any flavour, but no, not really. Still almost tasteless - a faint mustiness, and a slightly more discernable bitterness. Hint of sourness in the aftertaste. This is the most tasteless beer I've yet encountered, and I feel that to call it a beer at all is an insult to all other beers. It is certainly in no way an IPA. Frankly, for one of the few times in my life I wished I'd gone for a mass-market lager instead!
